Chipmunks

ChipmunkChecking Out Chipmunks

Chipmunks are easily recognized by their small size and the five dark stripes on their backs, including a distinct, central line that extends forward onto the head. Chipmunks are charmers, attracting humans with their boldness and constant busyness.

What they Eat

Chipmunks eat nuts, acorns, seeds, mushrooms, berries, insects, bird’s eggs, and snails but they’re also avid hoarders, storing nuts and seeds for winter survival.

Where they Live

Chipmunks construct extensive burrows which can be up to 3.5m in length with several well-connected entrances. If chipmunks are burrowing in your lawn, or hoarding from your garden, they can be an unwelcome nuisance.
